Over 10,000 pieces of equipment restored in North Caucasus military district this year

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Nov 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Heads of engineering and technical services of the North Caucasus military district ended a training session here on on Friday, Lieutenant General Vladimir Nedorezov, chief of the district's armament and deputy district commander in charge of armament, said.

The district's military repairers have restored over 10,000 pieces of equipment this year. At the same time, defense industry enterprises serviced some 450 pieces of various equipment including Tochka tactical missile systems, Strela-10 SAM systems, Shturm-S anti-tank missile systems, Smerch and Uragan multiple rocket launching systems, 1V12 control posts, etc.

Commenting on the work of his subordinates within the unified federal group in Chechnya Nedorezov said that no military operations had been cancelled due to the equipment failures. The equipment in the inventory of the 42nd motorized rifle division is not brand new but it is capable of accomplishing all missions in Chechnya, Nedorezov stressed. Apart from servicing of the unified federal group in the breakaway republic the district is to support peacekeeping forces, permanent-readiness units and Russian servicemen operating in Armenia.

The level of support allows us to accomplish all asssigned tasks, Nedorezov added.
