Federals detain three rebels in Chechnya's Shali district

KHANKALA. Nov 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal forces have detained three rebels during a search operation in Chechnya's Shali district and confiscated from them three assault rifles, six hand grenades, a pistol and a huge number of cartridges, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Monday.

According to preliminary data, the rebels were preparing an attack on life support installations located in the district, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Federals engaged in another operations took from ruined buildings of Grozny a PKM machine-gun, a shoulder-fired antitank grenade launcher, 21 mortar shells, two radio-controlled landmines made on the basis of artillery shells and some 9,000 cartridges.

Seven suspected rebels were detained in the city. The Grozny prosecutor's office has launched investigation into the case.
