ST.PETERSBURG. Nov 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The St. Petersburg city government fixed on Monday the date of the International Naval Show, a spokesman for the city administration's foreign relations coordination department told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
The show will take place in the city on June 25 to 29, 2003 during celebrations of St. Petersburg's 300th anniversary. It will have military, exhibition and demonstration sections. Moreover, there will be a separate show devoted to Russia's shipbuilding history, a research and practical forum on shipbuilding and a naval parade on the Neva River involving 10 Russian and 10 foreign vessels.
The show is supposed to be a serious impetus to promotion of Russian ship-building products on the foreign market. St. Petersburg has been chosen to host the show because it concentrates 20 percent of Russian ship-building potential and hosts 70 research, production and development enterprises of the ship-building industry.
The show's organization will cost RUB62m (USD2.07m), and the city budget will allocate over RUB17m (USD567,462) for the purpose. The rest will be supplied by the Defense Ministry, Russian Shipbuilding Agency and participants in the show.
