FSB department in Amur region gets new chief

BLAGOVESHCHENSK, Russian Far East. Nov 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The new chief of the Federal Security Service (FSB) department in the Amur region was introduced to his subordinates on Tuesday, a spokesman for the region administration told Interfax-Military News Agency.

President Vladimir Putin appointed Colonel Alexei Kostikov, 50, to the post. Before his current appointment Kostikov served as deputy head of the FSB department in the Khabarovsk territory. He joined the security service in 1974.

Kostikov's predecessor Major General Valery Zhelyayev has been transferred to head the FSB department in the Maritime territory. He replaced Major General Alexander Gromov who retired from the FSB due to old age.
