MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Chechen field commander Ibn ul-Khattab has not left Chechnya and remains in command of rebels staging acts of terrorism and sabotage against federal troops in Chechnya, deputy director of the Federal Border Guard Service Col. Gen. Nikolai Reznichenko told Interfax on Wednesday.
"I recently obtained a transcript of his radio communications that were of a day-to-day nature," he said.
The general said Khattab "goes on the air quite rarely with the call signs Abu-Salekh or simply Salekh." Evidently, he is staying somewhere in the mountains of Chechnya, and is being monitored by radio interception services of the Russian Defense Ministry and the Federal Security Service, Reznichenko said.
