Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant ups export production

CHELYABINSK. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant will increase its output of military products, including new models exported via the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader, the plant's receiver, Valery Platonov, told Interfax.

Platonov denied reports that the plant conducts direct exports. "The Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant does not have a relevant license. Therefore, all supplies are conducted via Rosoboronexport," he said.

The plant will increase output next year compared to 2001 in the framework of a contract for exporting T-90 tanks to India. The model is assembled in the Uralvagonzavod plant in the Sverdlovsk region, and includes a 1,000 horsepower engine produced at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, he said. This year, 13% of the contract will be executed, he added.
