Russian Air Force operates all components of unified automatic control system - commander

MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax-AVN) - All components of the Air Force unified automatic control system have been created for tactical, strategic and transport aviation, as well as for the air defense forces, Air Force Commander Anatoly Kornukov told reporters on Friday.

The last thing to do is to obtain additional funds and integrate the components into a unified control system. Kornukov stressed that the new communications assets had already been worked out by the Russian industrial companies and their introduction was being delayed due to financial constraints of the state armament program.

The pendant of the defense minister was given to the Air Force Main Communications Center by Kornukov on Friday. The personnel of the Center obtained the award for the high combat qualities and personal courage they displayed in carrying out orders of the defense minister on providing communications support for the operation in Chechnya. The ceremony was staged at the Air Force Officers' House in the locality of Zarya in the Balashikha district, Moscow region.

The Air Force commander stressed that the Center provided support for both the Russian Air Force and the CIS Unified Air Defense System.
