YAKUTSK, Central Siberia. Dec 10 (Interfax-AVN) - An officer of the Federal Security Service who was being wanted for murder for two years has surrendered to the prosecutor's office of the Sakha-Yakutia autonomous republic.
Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Serbinov murdered two fellow servicemen on January 15, 2000, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday. The three men were in a sauna in Yakutsk when a quarrel emerged. Serbunov produced his pistol and opened fire at the fellows. Colonel Nikolai Kusev died on the spot and Vladimir Alexeyev was heavily wounded. The gunman put on light clothes and left the building. It is unclear where he spent the following two years.
The FSB department for Yakutia declined to comment on the incident.
