MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Moscow city government has made a decision to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, a spokesman for the Russian Emergencies Ministry told Interfax- Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The ministry's planes will deliver some 200t of foodstuffs, essential goods and medicines to the Bagram aircraft base in Afghanistan at the government's request. The first two IL-76 Candid planes will fly to Bagram overnight to Friday. According to specialists, the planes will make eight to twelve flights to deliver the whole cargo to the country, the spokesman said.
Two railway cars carrying 100 tonnes of sugar sent by the government of the Tatarstan autonomous republic to residents of northern Afghan provinces left Kazan for Dushanbe on Monday, the spokesman added.
