MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Establishment of the regional system of emergencies monitoring, laboratory control and forecasting under the auspices of the Russian Emergencies Ministry is progressing ahead of schedule, Deputy Emergencies Minister Mikhail Faleyev said on Tuesday.
"Monitoring and forecasting centers of the regional level have been established in all federal districts, while centers of the territorial level have been set up in 86 component parts of the Russian Federation," Faleyev told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The supervisory element of the system is the Antistikhia all- Russian center of the Emergencies Ministry situated in Moscow, the official said. So-called experimental zones have been set up in the Siberian, North-western and Volga-Ural regional centers, as well as in the Sakhalin, Irkutsk and Kaliningrad regions. "Technologies of preventing and monitoring natural disasters and catastrophes will be practiced there in real time," Faleyev said.
