BRUSSELS. Dec 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia could back operations to destroy international terrorist structures outside Afghanistan if appropriate confirmations are received, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov has said. issue and Russia gets strong arguments that prove the existence of international terrorist structures, then why not support operations to destroy them," said the minister in reply to an Interfax question in Brussels on Tuesday.
However, Moscow has not received "any real facts on this score" so far, Ivanov said.
"The region where terrorist structures could really be claimed is Chechnya," he added.
Ivanov praised the current standard of Russia's cooperation with the United States and Great Britain in resisting international terrorism. "Our countries are sharing intelligence information on a very serious and unprecedented scale. This has never happened before," he said.
However, he said that Russia and NATO do not share intelligence information on a comparable scale. "There is nobody to share information with in NATO. It does not have a structure with serious intelligence information or serious decision-making capability even on Afghanistan, while the United States and Britain do have," Ivanov said.
