KHANKALA. Dec 19 (Interfax-AVN) - A serviceman of the Russian Defense Ministry was killed in Chechnya on Tuesday, while another three servicemen and three policemen were injured, an officer of the Chechen Interior Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The losses were the result of 11 guerrilla attacks on federal positions and four landmine blasts, the spokesman said.
"Besides, a sapper of the Defense Ministry touched off a mine while conducting engineer intelligence 6km south of the Petropavlovskaya village in the Grozny rural district. Half an hour later militants blasted a UAZ truck carrying officers of the Penza elite police department on the northern outskirts of the Urus Martan district center," the spokesman said. The blast injured two policemen who were going black from a special operation in the village of Gekhi.
Another elite policemen from the town of Rybinsk in central European Rsusia was heavily wounded in a guerrilla attack on a checkpoint on the Oktyabrsky district of Grozny.
The spokesman stressed that "law-enforcement bodies in Chechnya do not control the territory of the republic, that is why rebels may stage an attack, fire at our positions or mine a road anytime anywhere."
