Azerbaijani peacekeepers should be included in the Turkish peacekeeping contingent, as was done earlier in Kosovo, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has told Interfax.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem has confirmed that his country will take part in the peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan, although the date when Turkish servicemen will be transferred to that country and their number have not yet been defined.
The Turkish Embassy in Baku has told Interfax that an Azerbaijani platoon will be included in each Turkish peacekeeping battalion.
The press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry did not deny this information, but noted that the terms under which Azerbaijani servicemen will take part in the peacekeeping mission and their number have yet to be negotiated between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
