KHANKALA. Dec 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal sappers found and defused about 20 landmines on routes of federal military vehicles in Chechnya on Thursday morning, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Most of the finds were makeshift explosive devices compiled of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, the spokesman said.
According to him, army special teams completed an operation against a guerrilla gang hiding in the Khakmadoi village. They destroyed three rebels and detained three more people on suspicion of involvement in the gang. The detainees have been handed over to law-enforcers for investigation.
Federal engineer units completed construction of a policlinic in the village of Kharachoi, the spokesman said. Besides, the military restored about 10km of power lines in the Chechen foothills.
