Putin lays out five main objectives facing Interior Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Speaking at an expanded session of the Russian Interior Ministry board on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid out five main tasks facing the Ministry today.

First, interior agencies must work to ensure security to a person and society. Second, they must fight terrorism and extremism. Third, the Ministry should attach particular importance to creating "a favorable business climate in the country," in particular, not to allow "administrative arbitrariness and pressure on business by dishonest officials and servicemen in law enforcement agencies."

The fourth avenue of special attention for interior bodies is counteracting illegal drug circulation, which Putin described as "a struggle for the nation's survival."

The fifth area of activity is control "over migration processes and the curbing of illegal migration," the president said.
