MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Introduction of economical methods of combat training is to be the principal issue on the agenda of the four-day operational training session of the Airborne Troops, Airborne Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Nikolai Staskov told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The session began on Tuesday; it is to be held at the facilities provided by the Ryazan-based Airborne Institute and 106th airborne division. The general said the purpose of the session was to increase the participants' professional level, enhance their expertise in combat, airborne and mobilization training in accordance with modern requirements, as well as to exchange opinions on most topical issues related to training personnel in conditions of inadequate financing.
Unit and formation commanders, their deputies and commanders of the 242nd airborne training center are to take part in the session.
The servicemen of the Airborne Troops have been assigned an immense task of transforming all the regiments into units of permanent combat readiness, Staskov said. Approaches to achieving the objective in conditions of army reforms and inadequate funding are to be identified in co-operation between division and separate unit commanders of the Airborne Troops.
The general stressed that new methods and forms of organizing practice in armored vehicles' driving, tactical, airborne and fire training would be displayed in the course of the session. The emphasis of the training will be put on the tactic of detachments' activities in special environment with the employment of the experience gained in the anti-guerrilla operation in the North Caucasus.
Commander of the Russian Airborne Troops Georgy Shpak is to summarize the results of the session on Friday. He will also set tasks for the winter training period, Staskov added.
