New section of military compound commissioned in Shali garrison

KHANKALA. Dec 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The second section of the military compound has been commissioned in the Shali garrison of the 42nd motorized rifle division permanently stationed in Chechnya, a spokesman for the division headquarters told Interfax- Military News Agency on Wednesday.

The commissioning was supervised by Colonel General Viktor Vlasov, head of the Main Housing Operation Department in the Russian Armed Forces. The spokesman said servicemen would be accomodated in six barracks. The 16 barracks of the compound's first section are still being peopled.

Vlasov is also to check the heating system of the Shali and two other garrisons of the division. Heating-related problems have been successfully solved in the localities of Khankala, Shali, Kalinovskaya and Borzoy, with the heating system consisting of autonomous boiler houses supplied for two or three months of operation.

Despite all the improvements, heat is supplied to the Shali garrison by two bolier plants on a temporary basis. The principal problem concerning the transition to a permanent operation is lack of financing of Grozenergo experts who are to ensure power energy supply to the garrison.
