Russian Control Systems Agency to exhibit latest developments at Nizhny Novgorod show

MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Control Systems Agency will exhibit the latest systems of air defense, radio location and control at an international specialist show in Nizhny Novgorod in April 2002, the agency's director general Vladimir Simonov said on Saturday.

The exhibition of military- and dual-purpose technologies entitled New Technologies in Radio-electronics and Control Systems will take place in Nizhny Novgorod from April 3 to 5. It was originally planned for October 25 to 27, 2001, but had to be postponed because many foreign participants had cancelled their Russian trips in the wake of the terrorist attacks in the United States.

"The Agency is planning to exhibit armament samples that have never been exposed to the general public before," Simonov told Interfax-Military News Agency. "We will also demonstrate control systems that can be used in railway transport and fuel and energy industry, as well as the latest dual-purpose developments in the sphere of electronics, in particular, millimicro-technologies, optoelectronics and ultrahigh-frequency equipment," he stressed.

According to Simonov, the exhibition will be supplemented by a thematic conference.

Ilya Klebanov, Russia's deputy prime minister and minister of industry, science and technology, and Sergei Kiriyenko, President Vladimir Putin's envoy to the Volga federal district, co-chair the organizers committee of the show.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to inform interested foreign nations on the show and provide necessary assistance to foreigners arriving in Nizhny Novgorod.

According to data made available to Interfax-AVN, interested organizations will cover the expenses on preparations for and conduction of the show.
