MOSCOW. Jan 8 (Interfax-AVN) - A commission of the Land Forces command will start a complex inspection of the North Caucasus military district on Wednesday, a spokesman for the command told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The commission led by chief-of-staff and deputy Land Forces commander Lieutenant General Alexander Morozov includes officers and generals of the main combat training department as well as operations, recruiting, rear, troops service and military service security, engineering troops, and air defense departments.
The commission will visit Rostov-on-Don, where the district headquarters is located, and the Volgograd garrison. It will study the functioning of departments, headquarters and services of the district, check its training center, sapper and other military units. Colonel Alexander Chechetenko, chief of the Land Forces political work department, will inspect the state of political work in the 22nd special purpose brigade. Over 70 servicemen of the brigade went AWOL on November 29 last year.
Speaking of the commission's tasks Land Forces Commander and Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Kormiltsev said that its main goal was to provide maximal aid to the units' command in maintenance of the troops control system, as well as in solving problems pertaining to provision of the personnel with everything required for normal combat training and everyday life.
The commission is planning to complete its work on Saturday.
