28 percent of Russian Air Force pilots ready to operate in any conditions

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax-AVN) - About 28 percent of the flying personnel of the Russian Air Force are ready to operate in any conditions in the daytime or at night, Air Force Commander Anatoly Kornukov told reporters on Friday.

This category of pilots flies for over 100 hours a year. However in general, Air Force pilots do not have enough flying hours, Kornukov said in response to a question from Interfax- Military News Agency. In 2001, the average number of flying hours per person made 15 in the fighter aviation, 20 in the attack plane aviation, 14 in the bomber aviation, 22.5 in the long-range aviation and over 50 in the military transport aviation.

The Air Force held about 400 exercises last year, Kornukov said.
