TBILISI. Jan 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Delegations of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey have drafted a trilateral agreement on combating terrorism, organized crime, drug and arms trafficking, money laundering, kidnapping and other crimes, a spokesman for the Turkish embassy in Georgia said on Monday.
The delegations have been working in Ankara, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The document envisages cooperation between Azerbaijani, Georgian and Turkish law-enforcement bodies in combating the above-mentioned crimes, as well as regular exchanges of related data.
The spokesman stressed that it was Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze who came up with the idea to draft the agreement during his visit to Turkey in 1999.
According to information available to the embassy, the presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey are planning to sign the agreement at a summit in Istanbul. The date of the summit is not fixed yet.
