NOVOROSSIYSK. Jan 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Rear Admiral Vladimir Rogatin, commander of the Novorossiysk naval base, ordered to provide additional means and forces for the elimination of flood consequences in the Temryuk district of the Kransodar territory, a spokesman for the base headquarters said on Thursday.
The means and forces were provided at the request from the territory's authorities, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
A SB-4 rescue towboat operates in the disaster area breaking the ice in the Temryuk port. The ice is 25cm thick.
Infantry fighting vehicles of marine units are evacuating people from flooded areas of the district. Another floating IFV with enhanced cross-country capacity and capability to carry an automobile or 30 people is sent the district.
The flood did not affect training, combat and daily activities of the base's units and vessels, the spokesman added.
