MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Government defense orders for 2002 will be almost 40% larger than last year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov told the press after a Thursday government meeting that approved the orders for 2002.
He named as the priorities in 2002 R&D on new generations of military hardware, in particular in aircraft-manufacturing, communications, spacecraft, strategic forces, weaponry for the land force and Navy.
"Resources for upgrading the military hardware currently used by the Russian army have been significantly increased," Klebanov said.
