ARGUN, Chechnya. Jan 18 (Interfax-AVN) - An assassination attempt on head of the Argun city administration Movsar Tenirbayev was staged on Thursday.
Unidentified attackers fired at Temirbayev's Volga car on Starozavodskaya street, the Argun military commandant's office told Interfax.
The head of the city administration was accompanied by six policemen. Neither Temirbayev nor his security guards suffered injuries, but his driver sustained a gunshot wound.
Updated information also indicates that, together with Temirbayev's Volga, a car carrying deputy presidential envoy to the Southern Federal District Viktor Krokhmal also came under fire. Krokhmal, who was on a mission to Chechnya, was examining the city together with Temirbayev after a recent special operation conducted there by federal forces.
Krokhmal's driver also received a bullet wound in the neck and was hospitalized. The Argun prosecution services received the information about the incident from Krokhmal's aides.
A criminal case into the attack has been opened.
