VLADIVOSTOK. Jan 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Classified documents were destroyed in a fire in an air defense unit stationed in the Far East on Sunday.
The fire broke out in the education building of a military unit of the 11th Air Force and Air Defense army, the Vladivostok department for civil defense and emergencies told Interfax- Military News Agency. More than 20 classified documents were destroyed in the fire.
An officer borrowed the classified documents for work on Sunday. He left them in a classroom and went out for lunch. The fire broke out in the classroom because of a short circuit in electrical wiring and homemade heaters.
Nobody was hurt. The material damage exceeds RUB100,000 (USD3,270). Military prosecutors are investigating the episode.
