MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Two soldiers who left their military unit in the Khabarovsk territory without authorization have been detained, chief of the Defense Ministry press service Nikolai Deryabin told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
The deserters, both aged 18, were apprehended at 7:00 a.m. Moscow time (0400 GMT). They were brought back to their unit and their arms were seized from them.
The two raw recruits left the unit stationed near the Bolon village in the Amur district. They beat up an officer and took his Makarov pistol from him. Then they put a pistol at a security guard, took his carbine and left the territory of the unit.
