GROZNY. Jan 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Four rebels offering armed resistance have been destroyed in a special operation of the federal force in Alleroi, Chechnya.
The PR section of the Federal Security Service department for Chechnya told Interfax that one of the killed was a field commander.
The Grozny city division of the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the military authorities detained Akhmed Takayev, who was born in 1979, a member of the rebel group of Arbi Barayev, at a marketplace in Grozny. An F-1 grenade was confiscated from him. Shervani Dashayev, born in 1959, belonging to the same group was detained in a FSB operation in the village of Ishcherskaya. He is known for his participation in the execution of construction workers of the Emergencies' Ministry in Grozny in March 1996. Vakha Bakayev, born in 1969, a resident of Katyr-Yurt was also detained. A self-made bomb consisting of 400 grams of TNT, 400 grams of plastid and an electric fuse was confiscated from them.
Units of the military commandant's office, a unit of the Interior Ministry troops and the FSB division detained four suspected rebels while carrying out an ID check in the Mayakovsky compound in Grozny's Staporpomyslovsky district. They also apprehended eight people with supposedly fake documents. Legal action is underway.
Agents of the FSB department supported by the quick-response unit of the Volga federal district found and detected an arms cache in the Tangi-Chu village in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya. The cache contained a round for the RPG grenade launcher and 715 cartridges of the 5.45 caliber. Another arms cache containing 400 cartridges was found by the FSB agents of Urus-Martan near the third section of the 60 Let Oktyabrya state farm.
