MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian State Secretary and Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Igor Puzanov considers the armament program up to 2010 to be reasonable from economic and financial points of view.
The program was not elaborated in a day, it was a long process, Puzanov told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday. "The program is reasonable from both financial and economic sides and we really hope that it will be implemented," he said.
The program does not fully meet the needs of the armed forces, Puzanov said. However the government is capable of implementing such program, and one can be sure that everything included in it will be done. "This is not a declaration, but a feasible and well-founded document," he stressed.
Asked about the program's priorities, Puzanov named research development and tests of future armament systems. "They are not the systems that are mass-produced at the moment, but rather promising weapons and equipment for the Russian army," Puzanov said.
