CHITA, Southern Siberia. Feb 1 (Interfax-AVN) - A large- scale check of mobilization preparedness of the Siberian military district is to be conducted in summer 2002, a spokesman for the district headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
The check is to be carried out at facilities of the machine gun and artillery division deployed in the locality of Yasnaya, Chita region. Commander of the district Colonel General Vladimir Boldyrev has already visited the garrison and specified the details of the inspection.
The spokesman said that the mobilization of the rifle division is to be conducted at the Tsugol fire range 60 kilometers off Yasnaya. Some 10,000 reservists from the Chita, Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions and Buryatsko-Aginsky autonomous district are to be drafted in the course of the mobilization.
Combat harmonization of units and formations is to be carried out at the fire range during 10 days. The assembly of the registered personnel is to be over after two tactical regiment- level exercises with live firing.
The spokesman stressed that no mobilization preparedness check of this level and scale had been conducted in the district for over 15 years.
