Gantamirov named Chechen press minister

GROZNY. Feb 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Well-known Chechen politician Bislan Gantamirov was appointed minister for press, television and radio broadcasting and communications in Chechnya on Friday, head of the Chechen Administration Akhmad Kadyrov said.

Gantamirov had earlier submitted his resignation from the post of the Southern Federal District inspector. He cited his wish to return to Chechnya as a reason for quitting the job.

A Chechen government source told Interfax that Gantamirov may be appointed deputy prime minister in charge of the Chechen information policy.
