MOSCOW. Feb 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will present Moscow's position on problems of combating international terrorism to the world community.
Ivanov left for Munich on Friday to lead a Russian delegation to the annual international conference on international security, a Defense Ministry spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The program of Ivanov's visit to Germany includes meetings with U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, German Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping, and Indian National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister Brajesh Mishra.
On February 3, Ivanov will fly to Rome to participate in another international conference between the heads of defense agencies from NATO and Russia. The role of military organizations in thwarting terrorism will be discussed at the conference.
It is planned to hold a tripartite meeting between Ivanov, NATO Secretary General George Robertson, and Italian Defense Minister Antonio Martino.
