Georgian Navy starts Shtorm 2002 exercise in Black Sea

TBILISI. Feb 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Ten military vessels of the Georgian Navy are involved in the Shtorm 2002 two-day training which started in the Poti port on Thursday, the Georgian Defense Ministry press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The aim of the exercise is to maintain the operational regime in the responsibility zone. The training scenario envisages, in particular, practicing actions of the Navy in combating terrorism, sealing off the maneuver enemy from the sea and carrying out a search and rescue operation.

The exercise is supervised by Georgian Navy Commander Gigla Iremadze. Defense Ministry David Tevzadze is supposed to visit the training area.
