Up to 5,000 foreign troops may be deployed in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK. Feb 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The size of the foreign military contingent of the anti-terrorist coalition in Bishkek will be increased to 5,000, Alisher Abdimomunov, chairman of the parliamentary for international cooperation told Interfax on Friday.

He said earlier the coalition leadership announced intentions of deploying up to 3,000 servicemen, but as some 15 countries have expressed willingness to send their military personnel to Kyrgyzstan, the foreign presence may grow to 5,000.

All the nations whose servicemen will be stationed in Kyrgyzstan will pay to the Manas airport in full for its services such as landing and take-off of military aircraft, Abdimomunov said.

An intergovernmental agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Fnance and Kyrgyzstan and Canada on the stationing on the military contingent at Manas has been submitted for ratification to the Kyrgyz parliament, he noted.
