Russian emergencies minister to meet Afghan DM Monday afternoon

MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Emergencies Minister will hold negotiations with Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Fahim Khan on Monday afternoon, a spokesman for the Emergencies Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The officials will discuss implementation of humanitarian projects on the restoration of Afghanistan with the involvement of Russian specialists," the spokesman said. In particular, the ministers are expected to mull the establishment of a polytechnic center in Kabul for teaching Afghan citizens the professions which in the greatest demand in the country.

According to the spokesman, Russia has delivered to Afghanistan over 10,000t of foodstuffs, some 1,5000 stoves, almost 1,500 tents and a huge amount of other materiel under the auspices of the humanitarian aid operation. A convoy of the Russian national emergency humanitarian response corps is heading for the the town of Bangi with the load of 1,400 many-seat tents intended for homeless people living in Afghanistan's northern provinces. The convoy comprising 15 KamAZ trucks left the town of Sherkhan-Bandar late on February 7i.
