KOLOMNA, Moscow Region. Feb 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The local Kolomensky Zavod holding company has started implementing the order for production of emergency diesel power plants for the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, a spokesman for the company's management said on Monday.

The contract signed by the Atomstroieksport JSC envisages supply of four DGU6200 diesel generator plants to Iran, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency. Each plant is comprised of two 15-9DG diesel generators. Besides, Iran will get a DGU-3100 plant with one 15-9DG diesel generator. The complete set includes component equipment, peripherals and automatics.

The power plants of Kolomensky Zavod are intended for emergency cooling of a nuclear reactor in case of an accident and for minimal autonomous feeding of electric energy to all installations of the nuclear power plant in emergency situations.

Specialists say that 15-6DG developing 3,100kW meets enhanced requirements to reliability and acceleration.

The company is to ship the first DGU6200 plant developing 6,200kW to Iran already this year. Elaboration of documents related to the working project has ended, and production of the first 15-9DG has been launched.

According to unofficial data, the cost of a diesel generator with peripherals amounts to USD700,000. The Iranian party is financing the order. It made a prepayment of USD2m in January 2002.
