GROZNY. Feb 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Chechnya has completed preparation of facilities for accomodation of refugees that are expected to return from Georgia's Pankisi gorge, Chechen Emergencies Minister Ruslan Avtayev said on Wednesday.
"The first three dormitories fit for accomodation of 1,276 people have been commissioned in Grozny, while another five buildings capable of housing over 3,000 people will be ready in March or April," Avtayev told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"Two kindergartens and buildings of Special Professional College 30 have been transformed into temporary accomodation centers for refugees," the minister added.
Three residential blocks have been repaired and restored in the towns of Sernovodsk and Gudermes in line with a plan of the interdepartmental group on creating conditions for refugees' return to Chechnya. Another dormitory for 800 people will be commissioned in Sernovodsk on Friday.
"The return of refugees from Georgia's Pankisi gorge is a voluntary affair and will only concern people who have submitted personal requests," Avtayev stressed.
