GROZNY. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - A large-scale search for rebels and arms resumed in southern Chechen villages located at the entrance to the Argun gorge on Thursday, a spokesman for the Shali district administration told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The villages of Novye Atagi and Starye Atagi are sealed off once again, the spokesman said. Interior Ministry units have encircled the localites and are not letting people and vehicles in or out.
The previous operation in the area ended a week ago. It lasted eight days.
Manzha Dzhambekov, director of the Predgorny state farm, was shot dead in Novye Atagi on Tuesday.
The same day, a terrorist act that killed two servicemen in Starye Atagi, Colonel Rudnik Dudayev, secretary of the Chechen Security Council, told Interfax on Thursday.
The results of the resumed operation are not yet disclosed.
