Russia, Canada make statement on cooperation in peaceful uses of atomic energy

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and Canada have confirmed their intention to expand cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy, says a related statement made on results of top-level negotiations in the Kremlin on Thursday.

Russia and Canada "have a large potential for deepening cooperation in innovation reactors, nuclear fuel cycles, commercial uses of reactors, handling and disposal of radioactive waste, and uranium enrichment services," the statement runs.

Russia and Canada have agreed to start consultations on a memorandum of mutual understanding between the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy and the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
