Canada to assign USD5m for Russia's disposal of chemical weapons

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Canada will assign USD5m for Russia's disposal of chemical weapons, representatives of Team Canada told Interfax on Thursday.

They took part in the top-level negotiations between Russia and Canada in the Kremlin.

Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien praised the plan of the two countries on the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation and the joint statement on interaction in the sphere of atomic energy. Both documents have been approved during Team Canada's current Moscow trip.

The Canadian party believes that the agreements achieved in Moscow and the contracts that are about to be signed are solid steps towards development of interaction with Russia. They make it clear that both Moscow and Ottawa are eager to bring their relations to an upper level.
