MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian citizens might be detained together with Taliban and al Qaeda prisoners in the Guantanamo naval base in Cuba, government sources told Interfax on Friday.
Moscow has "received information from the U.S. side that there are some Russians among the Guantanamo prisoners," the sources said.
Moscow will "take all necessary consular actions to protect these citizens' rights," they said.
The number of Russians in Guantanamo remains undisclosed.
According to media reports with reference to the U.S. administration, two Russian citizens are detained in Guantanamo. The Foreign Ministry has neither confirmed nor denied this report.
