Chechen warlord killed

GROZNY. Feb 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal troops have killed Chechen warlord Khizir Khachukayev in the Grozny rural district.

"This leader was in the Akhmadov brothers' group, which was close to Khattab," the head of the Federal Security Service department for Chechnya, Sergei Babkin, reported on Friday.

The so-called "brigadier general" was killed in a special raid in the village of Starye Atagi. Federal servicemen eliminated 15 other members of the guerrilla formation.

A large number of suspects were detained, Babkin said. An investigation and questioning are underway.
