NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Feb 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Residents of Nizhny Novgorod who have opted for alternative service will continue working in the 1st city hospital regardless of the Friday court ruling, Lev Pavlov, chairman of the city's draft board, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The ruling of the Nizhny Novgorod region court revoking the city mayor's resolution on introduction of alternative civil service does not change anything in the situation of the 21 civil servants, Pavlov said. The mayor's office will appeal the decision in 10 days first with the presidium of the Nizhny Novgorod region court and then with the Russian Supreme Court.
"During those 10 days we will elaborate a new resolution of the Nizhny Novgorod mayor on alternative civil service," Pavlov, who also heads the committee on servicemen's affairs in the city administration, said.
Earlier on Friday, Judge Nadezhda Zheleznova of the Nizhny Novgorod region court satisfied the claim of the city prosecutor's office and revoked the mayor's resolution on the experiment in alternative military service.
