Federal aviation eliminates up to 20 rebels in southeastern Chechnya

KHANKALA. Feb 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Two SU-24 Fencer frontline bombers and two SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes inflicted strikes on rebel groups in southeastern Chechnya on Sunday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Operations of ground units were supported by MI-24 Hind helicopters that also escorted five federal envoys and accomplished seven motorway control missions, the spokesman said. The Hinds inflicted three air strikes on small rebel groups.

According to early reports, the air strikes resulted in elimination of up to 20 rebels, two strong-points and a retransmitter.
