MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Two agents of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Majors Mikhail Marchenko and Boris Kurdibansky, who died in a special operation in Chechnya, were reposing in state in Moscow on Tuesday.
The ceremony involved FSB Director Nikolai Patrushev and other FSB leaders.
The agents of Department A of the FSB special-purpose center were killed in the Starye Atagi village on February 12, a spokesman for the center told Interfax-Military News Agency. They got into an ambush together with two agents of the FSB department in the Krasnoyarsk territory.
The rebels proposed the agents to give up but the federals refused. The Department A agents were killed on the spot, while the other two were captured. Their mined corpses were found on the battlefield the next day.
The FSB public relations center reported that 28 rebels were eliminated in the vicinity of Starye Atagi on February 13. Among them were 18 Chechens and 10 Arabs, who attempted to rescue the first rebel group.
