MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The Rosoboronexport state- owned arms trader will represent Russia at the Asian Aerospace 2002 international aerospace show in Singapore from February 26 to March 3 this year, the Rosoboronexport press service reported on Wednesday.
Asian Aerospace is the major arms show in Southeastern Asia. Singapore is holding it for the eleventh time, the press service told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The Russian section of the show is compiled to meet demands of the region's countries in the near and distant future. It consists of numerous benches with models, mock-ups and reference materials that will give the visitors a comprehensive idea of over 100 types of armament and military hardware for all armed services, as well as of civil- and dual-purpose products.
Foreign experts will be briefed on all SU combat planes put up for export, including the SU-27SK Flanker fighter, SU-32 fighter bomber and SU-39 multifunctional strike plane.
Experts believe that the nations of the region that are planning to retrofit their combat aviation stocks will take interest in the SU-30MK Flanker multifunctional super- maneuverable fighter, the world's only mass produced plane with thrust vector control. The aircraft guarantees engagement of aerial, surface and naval targets by precision-guided weapons in any time of the day.
The Russian section features a lot of aircraft armaments and equipment, including an entire spectrum of the air-to-surface missiles made by the Zvezda-Strela state-owned research and production center in the town of Korolyov, Moscow region, as well as aircraft radars made by the Fazotron-NIIR corporation in Moscow.
The AN-38 plane mass produced by the Novosibirsk aircraft production association (NAPO) will perform demonstrative flights at the show. The aircraft is promoted on the global market by Rosoboronexport.
The Russian section is not limited to aircraft-related products. It also includes short- and medium-range air defense assets, the latest diesel-electric submarines and a broad range of surface-ships with small and medium displacement that are in great demand in the region.
Asian Aerospace 2002 will contribute a lot to the strengthening of Russia's military-technical cooperation with Southeastern Asia, the press service said.
