SUKHUMI. Feb 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Ambassador to Georgia Vladimir Gudev held a series of meetings with the Abkhaz leadership and the command of the CIS Collective Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict zone on Thursday, the Abkhaz government administration told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Gudev arrived in Sukhumi on a one-day visit, an administration spokesman said. His itinerary envisages negotiations with Abkhaz Prime Minister Anri Dzhergeniya, Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba and head of the UN military observer mission Major General Anis Ahmad Bajwa.
Besides, the ambassador met acting commander of the forces Major General Alexander Yevteyev.
Sources in the Russian embassy in Georgia said that Gudev was discussing conditions of resumption of joint patrolling in the Kodori gorge by Georgian and Abkhaz officials, peacekeepers and UN military observers.
Gudev's meeting with representatives of the Russian diaspora in Abkhazia is on the itinerary, too, the spokesman said.
