SINGAPORE. Feb 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The Automatic Systems Design Bureau based in the Russian city of Samara presents cutting-edge active jamming stations at the Asian Aerospace 2002 international exhibition that opened in Singapore on Tuesday, Doctor of Engineering Sciences Alexander Kisletsov told Interfax- Military News Agency.
The units developed at the Automatic Systems Design Bureau are to be used for protecting military and civil objects from Stinger-type, surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles.
Now that the problem of terrorist attacks on aircraft assets with the employment of advanced weapon systems have become exceptionally acute, the task of protecting aircraft from missiles is most topical. Kisletsov added that the new system could be mounted on Russian aircraft of all types that have been or are exported.
The active jamming laser stations include missile detection and tracking sensors, as well as a laser beam guidance unit. The Russian system excels its foreign analogues in performance capabilities due to the employment of laser emission.
The new assets of the Automatic Systems Design Bureau are exhibited as part of the Rosoboronexport state owned arms trader's section at the show; the visitors to the exhibition seem to be very much interested in the systems.
