TBILISI. Feb 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Representatives of U.S. military experts have refused to comment on the possible participation of U.S. troops in the anti-terrorist operation in the Pankisi Gorge.
A member of the delegation of U.S. military experts told reporters after negotiations with the Georgian top brass, which took place in Tbilisi on Wednesday and lasted for two hours, that the U.S. is satisfied with its military cooperation with Georgia.
Dzhoni Pirtskhalaishvili, the chief-of-staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, said that the meeting had touched mainly on the details of the five-year program of military cooperation between Georgia and the U.S.
Pirtskhalaishvili said this program includes the preparation, equipping and training of a special unit of the Georgian army.
Pirtskhalaishvili declined to make further comments.
A group of U.S. military advisors is scheduled to meet with Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze on Wednesday evening.
