KHANKALA. March 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Combat helicopters destroyed 10 guerillas and two rebel vehicles on Friday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The pilots of the helicopters were engaged in combat support of ground forces operating in the mountainous part of the republic. The principal strikes were launched in the vicinity of the Dargo and Dattykh localities.
The spokesman said that pilots of MI-8 Hip and MI-24 Hind helicopters carried out up to 15 sorties daily.
Military transport helicopters flew more than 50 sorties on Friday. Some 80 servicemen were airlifted, more than 10 tons of cargo delivered.
