Russian Airborne Troops council to discuss strengthening of military discipline

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax-AVN) - The Airborne Troops council will hold an expanded session on Monday discuss measures aimed at strengthening military discipline and order in airborne units, Colonel Alexander Shcherbakov, chief of the Airborne Staff political department, told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The session will be chaired by Airborne Commander Georgy Shpak and will involve Major General Alexander Savenkov, deputy chief military prosecutor.

Participants in the session will discuss two main issues, these being the state of troops service and safety of service in the Airborne Troops, and measures that should be taken to raise the efficiency of political work with the goal strengthening military discipline and order in airborne units.

Lieutenant General Nikolai Staskov, chief-of-staff and first deputy airborne commander, and Colonel Nikolai Ignatov, the airborne commander's aide on political work, will deliver reports at the session. The council will also hear reports of Colonel Nikolai Nikulnikov, commander of the 31st separate airborne brigade stationed in the city of Ulyanovsk, and commanders of other units on the strengthening of military discipline and order in their formations. Savenkov is supposed to speak at the session, too.
